Operationalisation of the School Rules

  • The school shall have clearly outlined and publicised school rules.
  • Educators shall have the same rights as parents when applying discipline and controlling learners during school activities.
  • Learners shall be involved in reviewing school rules via RCL representatives on the SGB.
  • Ignorance of the school rules shall not be an acceptable excuse for failing to comply.
  • This policy shall be widely publicised to all members of the school community.
  • Discipline shall be applied fairly, consistently, promptly, and as a corrective measure rather than punishment.
  • Parents shall be involved in corrective measures unless they fail to respond or provide correct contact details.
  • No learner may be delegated to discipline another learner.
  • Disciplinary measures must match the offence and become more severe with repetition.
  • All serious misconduct must be reported to the Principal and handled at that level.
  • The school must keep a register of all reported misconduct and the outcomes of actions taken.
